Lesson 2.1.3: Tips for Speaking Part 1

1. Focus on Fluency: Extending your Answer

 

PRACTICE:

1. What do you like about living in your home town?
2. Are there any things about the place where you live that you do not enjoy?
3. Do you enjoy cooking? Why? Why not?
4. Do you prefer home cooked or restaurant meals?
5. Are you very interested in playing or watching sports? Why? Why not?
6. What do you like about your current accommodation?
7. Is there anything that you don’t enjoy about living there?
8. What kinds of things do you enjoy doing with your friends?
9. Do you enjoy using public transport?
10. What aspects of public transport do you not enjoy?

Answer the questions in the video using one of the two patterns below.

Pattern 1
  •     Say (how much) you like it
  •     Give the reasons why you like it 
Pattern 2

  •     Say you don't like it
  •     Give the reasons why you don't like it
  •     Give your preference for something else

Try to use both patterns an equal number of times but answer the questions honestly about yourself.

Record your answer each time and listen to it, check your accurate use of grammar.

2. Focus on Vocabulary: Showing Range

 

PRACTICE:

  1. Now let’s talk about your home town. What kind of place is it?
  2. What’s the most interesting part of the city?
  3. Now let’s talk about your accommodation. Tell me about the kind of accommodation you live in.
  4. Now let’s talk about festivals. Do you feel that festivals are important for a country?
